What You Can Expect at Your First Visit

Seattle Dentist — What to Expect

You’ll feel comfortable and at ease from the moment you step inside the office of Seattle dentist, Fidler on the Tooth. We strive to ensure both fearless and fearful patients receive pain free care from day one.

Medical History

During your first visit, you can expect to fill out a simple new patient form where you will provide your medical history, including the prescription and over the counter medications you take.

X-Rays

Next, we’ll take x-rays of your teeth, including a panoramic x-ray, so we can diagnose any problems undetected by a visual exam, such as decay, abscesses, tumors, cysts, impacted teeth, jaw problems, and more. One of the registered dental hygienists at our Seattle dentist office will place a lead apron over you during the x-ray. Seattle dentist Dr. Fidler doesn’t advise having x-rays while pregnant, so if you’re pregnant or suspect you might be pregnant please let us know.

Cleaning

After x-rays, your Seattle dentist hygienist will give your teeth a complete cleaning. This involves gently scraping below the gum line to remove any tartar and plaque buildup that might cause cavities, gum disease, or other problems and then flossing and polishing your teeth. We can offer numbing agents if the scraping is uncomfortable and earphones to listen to music if the scraping sound bothers you.

Dental Exam

Once your teeth are clean and buildup free, Seattle dentist Dr. Fidler will examine your entire mouth to look for signs of problems. If Dr. Fidler doesn’t see any signs of damage, you’re finished with your exam and will simply make another cleaning appointment in about six months. If Dr. Fidler finds that you do have a problem, she will discuss a treatment plan that will help you get back in good oral health. Dr. Fidler will also take the time to answer any questions or to address your concerns.

That’s it for your first visit to Fidler on the Tooth. Simply put, we work diligently to ensure a comfortable experience from the very first time you enter our office.
