Our Technology
Seattle dentist Fidler on the Tooth takes great pleasure in catering to your comforts.
Whether you come visit us for your regularly scheduled dental cleaning or for a more in depth procedure we offer you the option of watching a movie, listening to a radio station of your choice, nitrous gas, or even a warm blanket.
We use various pieces of technology during your visit with us to ensure we are giving you the best care possible. Some examples include the following:
DIAGNOdent Laser:
We use a cavity detecting laser called DIAGNOdent to find cavities too small to detect visibly or with an x-ray. This allows for a smaller filling and less tooth stress, which saves you from developing any future problems with the tooth.
Digital x-rays:
We are a proud Seattle dentist that uses the Dexis digital x-ray system. Digital x-rays offer the advantage of an 80 percent reduction in radiation. They also require no need for film or processing chemicals and produce an instantaneous image with the ability to use color contrast in the image. Many patients comment that the whole process of taking x-rays is now less uncomfortable and much faster.
Intra-Oral Camera:
We use a miniature video camera called an intra-oral camera to take a close-up picture of the inside of your mouth. This allows you to actually see the inside of your mouth and any problems you have with your teeth. Our Seattle dentist patients love how this camera makes them an active participant in their dental recommendations.
Cavitron:
A Cavitron is a dental tool that uses high frequency sound waves to clean teeth. The Cavitron ultrasonic cleaner is a state of the art instrument that has proved to be an extremely successful tool in removing tartar from both above and below the gumline.
Soft Tissue Laser:
One of our favorite pieces of technology as a Seattle dentist is our soft tissue laser. We use this tool in a variety of ways:
1) Treating Cold Sores. The laser kills the cold sore virus. If caught in the early stages it will likely prevent the outbreak of an ulcer and potentially hinder reoccurring outbreaks in the affected areas.
2) Laser Bacterial Reduction. The laser reduces or eliminates the cross contamination of bacterial infection from one area of your mouth to another.
3) Laser Assisted Perio Therapy. A laser is recommended during many periodontal procedures because of the precise control it affords Seattle dentist Dr. Vicki Fidler and the comfort it provides to her patients. It can help increase circulation and collagen formation at the bottom of your periodontal pockets and help revive or rejuvenate your attachment.
OraVerse:
OraVerse is used to rapidly reverse the effects of your local dental anesthetic. The average duration of soft tissue numbness following the use of a local anesthetic is 3-5 hours. OraVerse allows for a return to normal sensation and function in about half the time.
Snore Guard:
We can help our patients that snore or suffer from mild to moderate Obstructive Sleep Apnea with a custom snore guard mouth appliance that works as an alternative to a C-PAP machine. A snore guard is usually covered through medical insurance if you’ve undergone a sleep study and have an Obstructive Sleep Apnea diagnosis. Check with your Seattle dentist, Dr. Fidler, if you have questions about insurance.
